Attribute and ability specialties are implemented as tips, and are only visible when the relevant trait is hovered over. A few other fields are also implemented as tips, such as background & equipment descriptions (visible when hovering over the name). Most sections include a field attached to the section title where you can add notes; these are also implemented as tips.
To help identify most fields that have tips, they're styled as: lorem ipsum. Sections with notes are style differently:
Sectionsome notes
Editing specialties can be tricky, as they're only visible when the mouse cursor is kept over the trait or specialty. To avoid prematurely closing the specialty editor, don't move the mouse outside of the field editor until done (i.e. keep the cursor over the input or, if present, the "OK" button). Some fields (those that have a multiline text area) will save automatically when closed, so at least you won't lose your edits. If you want to edit the main field, however, move the cursor away from the input to hide the tip.

To clear pips, click the box.
- Permanent & Current Traits
-
While "permanent" values for traits can only be changed when editing the sheet, some traits also have a current value, indicated with square pips (). These can be changed without editing the sheet, but the changes are only available locally, and not in other browsers or on other devices. Clearing local storage (either manually or because of security settings) will discard these changes. Editing the sheet where the changes are accessible will incorporate the changed value into what's stored for the sheet, making the change accessible in other browsers & on other platforms.
Permanent values set an upper bound for current values, but this is not enforced by the sheet. You can set the current value past the permanent value. The maximum is indicated by shading of the pips for the current value beyond the maximum.
- Corpus
Clicking on a current health pip with no keyboard modifiers will set the current health. If a shift key is pressed, instead the clicked pip will cycle through various damage types: bashing (), lethal (), and aggravated (). Additionally, shift-clicking a healthy pip will reduce the current health, as is done with an unmodified click (note: it will not increase current health).
- Dynamic lists
-
Some sections allow you to add your own items; click to add an item. will delete an item. Items can be moved within a list by dragging them, or by clicking and then clicking another item; the first item will then be inserted at the position of the clicked item. Tap the "esc" key to cancel moves; clicking the item to move will also effectively cancel the move (as it's already in that position).
Lists are limited (somewhat arbitrarily) to a maximum of 99 items each.
- Undo & Redo
-
A history is kept of some edits, so they can be undone & redone. The undo and redo key commands are "control-z" and "shift-control-Z" (or "control-y"), respectively. On a Mac, "⌘z" and "⌘y" will also work, but "⌘⇧Z" cannot (the browser won't passed it to the sheet script).
This feature is brittle; use with caution.
- Importing & Exporting
-
You may have switched from another sheet, or want to switch to another sheet. This DST will attempt to import from and export to some DSTs (Classic World of Darkness (Revised), nWoD Reloaded!, and Old World of Darkness Generic). However, other sheets may structure data differently or may not include certain fields, requiring data to be shoehorned into existing field options (this is particularly tricky when importing data, as there's no consistent format for the incoming data). Consequently, results cannot be guaranteed, but it's better than nothing. To avoid data loss, keep a copy of the old sheet open in another tab, and compare the old sheet with the new after switching sheets.
For importing & exporting to work, the character must be saved before switching. That is, the steps are save, edit, switch. Any edits made without saving before switching will be lost (this is a consequence of how Obsidian Portal handles character data when switching).
A few backgrounds (equipment & associates) have their own sections. Entries appear in both "Backgrounds" and the other sections, but aren't connected. If you don't want them in "Backgrounds", feel free to delete those entries.
Exporting can be disabled in the "Options" section (below the rest of the sheet).
- Bug Reports
-
You might encounter bugs with this sheet; if you believe you've found one, contact the author via direct message or the forums. The import/export feature is necessarily limited and cannot cover all cases, so issues with it likely cannot be addressed, though requests to support new DSTs are welcome. In the report, please include:

- Description
- Steps to reproduce
- Expected result
- Actual result
- Platform information, including OS & browser, and version numbers
